2009 Year Summary

The superstar is set to continue recording his 21st album in early January, due out first quarter of 2010

Pepe Aguilar ended the year the best way imaginable: Preparing a new album, satisfied with a successful tour that took him to major cities in the U.S. and Mexico, and with new projects that have all consolidated his status as a thriving entrepreneur.

A few highlights from various areas in which Pepe Aguilar managed to increase the critical success of an already legendary 30 year plus career:

VIDEO PREMIERE OF HIS NEW SINGLE “CHAPARRITA”

• Currently in the recording studio, to continue preparing his 21st album to date, to be released during the first quarter of 2010. Pepe promises this to be a spectacular production.
• International premiere of the “Chaparrita” video, a single penned by Aguilar, on the show Escandalo Del Medio Dia, hosted by Charytin Goyco and broadcast through the Galavision/Univision network worldwide.
• Premiered video on social networking platforms, promoted via his official website www.pepeaguilar.com
• Soon to release what he has called the most expensive album of his 30 year career, as an independent production.
• Exceptional premier of his single “Chaparrita” as a part of a historically high-rating performance during the 10th Annual Latin GRAMMY 2009, broadcast through the Univision network and held at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

RECOGNITION FOR AN ALREADY SUCCESSFUL CAREER

• Nominated for a ‘Premio Lo Nuestro Latin Music’ award in 2010, in the category “Best Ranchero Artist of the Year”.
• Participated in a Tourism and Culture campaign for his home state of Zacatecas, Mexico. Pepe was named “Zacatecas Ambassador of Culture”, an honor bestowed upon him by the governor of the state, Amalia Garcia Medina.
• Recognized for his 30-year trajectory, by The National Mexican Radio and Television Industry Board (CIRT).
• Honored with the proclamation of “Pepe Aguilar Day” in New Mexico, USA.

A STAR ON SOCIAL NETWORK SITES

• Rounds up his fans via Twitter and invites them to participate in a concert to win Special Edition Pepe Aguilar iPods.
• Unstoppable on Twitter, with 90,000 plus followers, establishing himself among the three Latino artists with the most fans on the social networking site.
• Sets a record during his third video chat, uniting fans from several continents, a testament to his avant garde use of interactive community sites like Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and Flickr.
• Among Twitter’s Top 5 Latin artists.
• First recording artist to reach out to and meet with Jack Dorsey, creator, co-founder and president of Twitter.
• Followed by important figures on Twitter, like astronaut Jose Hernandez, who only follows eight people on the social network.
• Utilized social networks to invite his fans to help name his logo, with the name “Toro” being the winner.
• Launched his new web site, http://www.pepeaguilar.com, during Mexico’s Independence celebrations. 

A TOUR THROUGH THE BEST STAGES OF THE UNITED STATES AND MEXICO

• His tour broke attendance records and became the highest selling Latin summer tour of 2009.
• Started his 2009 tour at the Antonio Valenzuela Alamilla baseball park at the end of May, during the International Cocamalco, Tabasco, Mexico fair, which included 20,000 viewers.
• Stops in Mexico included Auditorio Telmex de la Perla Tapatia in Guadalajara, Jalisco; Auditorio Siglo XXI in the city of Puebla and the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the founding of the city of Tijuana in Baja California, where he was honored with the keys to the city, given to him by the Mayor.
• Commissioned to celebrate and entertain for the “El Grito de la Independencia”, a Latin American independence event on September 15th, as a special guest of the Presidency of Mexico in the historic Zocalo, the main square in the capital city of Mexico.
• Performed at the Palenque National Fair in his hometown of Zacatecas and the Monterrey Arena in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.
• At the last stop of his 2009 tour in Mexico, Pepe performed a concert in Sahuayo, Michoacan, and the perfect location to end the Mexico leg of the concert series.
• Began his long-awaited United States tour on August 1st, for which he toured 28 cities and shared the stage with the legendary singer Marco Antonio Solis at 17 of those cities.
• Cities he visited on his tour: Odessa, Lovington, Hidalgo (Dodge Arena, 6,800 people), Houston (Toyota Center, 18,300 people), Chicago (All State Arena, 15,000 people), Albuquerque (Journal Pavillion), New Mexico (where Mayor Martin J. Chavez proclaimed the day “Pepe Aguilar Day”), Los Angeles (Gibson Amphitheater), Miami (American Airlines Arena), and New York (Madison Square Garden).
• Pepe also celebrated along with his people the 199th anniversary of Mexican Independence in September at the Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The tour continued onto the cities of Fresno (Selland Arena), Stockton (Stockton Arena), San Diego (Cricket Amphitheater), San Jose (HP Arena) and his final stop on November 6th in the city of Anaheim, California, at the Honda Center. 

CORROBORATION AS A THRIVING ENTREPRENEUR

• This year marked his debut as a successful designer with the ‘Pepe Aguilar Signature Collection’, available online as well as in stores, distributed by WSS (Warehouse Show Sales) via 51 locations in Southern California. Projected growth is to include women’s fashion, as well as clothing and accessories for both sexes.
• Recently started an agro-ecological venture centered around the production of tomatoes, through which he wishes to promote and strengthen organic production, using traditional technology to help lower the impact on the planet and help preserve natural resources, positively benefitting the communities of his native Zacatecas with jobs among other things.

Without a doubt, this year has been one of major accomplishments and great satisfaction for the singer/song-writer.
